Recession will mean more burglaries, warns top cop

Burglary is on the increase in Wokingham and is likely to get worse as the recession deepens, the region’s police commander has warned.

Chief Constable Sara Thornton, commander of Thames Valley Police, said although violent crime would probably decrease, residents  should expect more “acquisitive” crime, such as burglaries and theft from cars.
